Hanuman Tok - Review

Hanuman Tok, which is similar to the Ganesh Tok is another very interesting Hindu religious site in Gangtok. There is a Hanuman Temple in the region which is considered to be sacred. Hindus from all over the country visit this place precisely for its religious significance. The typical Hindu architecture and the carving of the idols and the walls are worth noting.

But if you are not religious it is no matter. The Hanuman Tok also happens to be one of the two best viewpoints in the city as well. The surroundings of the temple are as beautiful as the temple itself and the whole area is perfect for photography.

The mighty mountains that you see our front and the verdant valley below are a very memorable experience and one that must be had in Sikkim. If you are up for it, the best time to visit this place is at 5 am in the morning to watch the glorious sun rise over the Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan peaks.

Hanuman Tok, Gangtok Reviews

  • Best view point in Gangtok..but during our visit it was fully covered by mist and clouds.. Awesome scenic place..Amazing views.. This temple is maintained by Army..so very neat and clean.. Prayer bells hang from above..Prayer chants and religious music are played through the audio speakers.

  • A beautiful Hanuman temple which is well maintained by army. It situated at some height above MG road catering a splendid scenic beauty. Roads are covered with greenery on both sides with a pretty valley view. Temple is clean and very well maintained. A must visit spot if you are travelling to gangtok.

  • Very nice and spiritual place, situated at a good height. Nice and awesome views. A little costly market. Nice place to visit for not more than 1 hour.

  • What a beautiful and well kept mandir. It is being maintained by the army. It extremely clean. The view from the mandir is amazingly beautiful. The mandir emphasis on the importance of indian medicinal herbs and has a lot of variety of them in the garden. The approach road is very well maintained but is steep and has some curves.

  • It is a Hanuman Temple. It is said that when Hanuman was taking Sanjeevani Butti to save Laxmana at that time Hanuman took rest in this place. This is very auspicious place in Gangtok, Sikkim. If we get chance to go here before 5am we can be lucky to see the far mountains covered by snow which is very beautiful.
