The Tashiding Monastery is one of the many pretty ones worth seeing around Gangtok. Located atop a hill, the place overlooks the stunning Rangeet River that makes it not only a very important religious spot but also a wonderful, calm and serene tourist attraction. The building is colorful and artistically decorated. It has a holy chorten (stupa), named as Thong-Wa-rang-Dol. Buddhist believes that a glimpse of this stupa can wash away all your sins. Don’t miss out the stone plates (manis) that have Buddhist mantras engraved on it.

Tashiding is considered to be one of the holiest places in Sikkim. Located near Pelling it is about a 2 hour ride from Bangkok and a journey well worth taking. It is the center point of the Jhang –ter lineage of Tibetan Buddhism making it culturally very significant.
