Telaga Menjer Wonosobo or the Menjer Lake in Central Java was formed by a volcanic eruption in the foothills of Mt Pakuwaja and comprised of a number of rainwater fed springs. Being the largest natural lake in Wonosobo Regency, the Telaga Menjer Wonosobo covers around 70 hectares and overlooks the mountainous forest and the tea garden to the north. There is a popular folklore behind the Lake and if you visit the western bank of Menjer, you will see a huge tree by a colossal rock, between them lies the three pieces of stone that open to the underground cave spring. The lake is now part of the hydro power plant and you can explore the lake stretching to the Sindoro Mountain on a rented boat.
