Nestled across the Ottawa river, the Canadian Museum of History was initially known as the Canadian Museum of Civilization and majorly explores Canada’s human history through permanent galleries and themed exhibitions. The museum collects, preserves and propagates the local history and cultural diversity through the expertise of Canadian historians, archaeologists, and folk culture experts. The culture institution also houses an IMAX theatre, the Canadian Children’s Museum, and the Canadian Postal Museum.
