William Doc Collier and his family has a deep roots in the Appalachian region. They were enterprising businessman for generations. A large part of their identity is linked to moonshining. Come to the Doc Collier Moonshine Distillery and see the equipment they used in the good old days. Taste the finest moonshine in Tennessee as Doc used the freshest mountain water around. . Doc’s Shine Shop is setup just like an old-fashioned country Commercial Store, like the one where his daddy first sold moonshine. According to tradition they still use water directly from the source to make their shine right.
Great-Great Grandpa William ‘Doc’ Collier travelled these mountains on horseback delivering his moonshine. He was an honest man and wanted to sell his drink in his neck of the wood. William “Doc” Collier lived on English Mountain and according the legend made the best moonshine. His product was in high demand and he had to distribute his product more competently. Opening a shop was what he needed to stay in business. He sold various wares to the everyday customer and his moonshine. Presently the Collier family has taken the same care and expertise used by their patriarch. The shop is designed to look like an old rustic goods store where moonshine was sold under the table. Play a round of checkers on a table made from a whiskey barrel. The old fashioned slide ladder adds authencity or try your hand at cracking corn on an antique Sheller.
You’ll also see a pickle barrel in front of the shop. The idea behind this is to let the customer know that you are selling moonshine. What makes Doc Collier Moonshine different is the fresh water. Till date the local bottler captures water fresh from the source in Dandridge, Tennessee. The Colliers have formed a selected business with English Mountain Spring Water. This cool, pure mountain water has the perfect mineralogy and pH level.
Their collection now includes Corn Whiskey, and the Original Moonshine Recipe. They have Blackberry, Peach, Firecracker, Sweat Tea and Apple Pie Moonshine Flavours. They also have moonshine cherries and a limited bottling of Blueberry Brandy.

Our experience here was awesome we were given the clue to go here by Travis at Savannah Bee Company. He was right the moonshine tasted like what I know it to taste like not all sugar and additives. But the star of the show was Trey. Trey deserves a raise he was a great entertainer and super laid back friendly. Cause of him we walked our with 3 bottles. I really loved the atompshere the town to earth vibe and the fun time we had. Thanks for making my birthday a great one
Very nice atmosphere and SUPER staff. Will definitely go back. Would give Anthony 6 stars if Google would let me. Highly recommend if you enjoy moonshine
Doc’s is awesome! Staff were super friendly and down to earth! Overall, best moonshine we had in downtown. Trey was our bartender during the tasting, he was funny and very knowledgeable. Definitely visiting again!
Billy runs a hell of a tasting session, his personality is definitely part of the whole experience. And the moonshine is awesome too- favorites are Lemon Tea, Apple Pie, and Peach. This was the most authentic and down to earth distillery we went to, if I had to go to only one, I'd go here.
Did our share of taste testing moonshine in Gatlinburg, and this is the only place we purchased. Two different sizes available which is great for us light-weights. True fruit taste, not too sugary or cough-syrup taste. Stroll on up to the tasting room for comparison.
