Gatlinburg Sky Lift opened in 1950’s. Step into the sky lift and photograph wild panoramic view of the Smoky Mountain. Glide with this chair lift soundlessly above the National Park and quaint town of Gatlinburg. This is one of the oldest attractions in the Smoky Mountain. Peer down through the clear floor and watch the spectacular views. Slide over the city, the mountains, the trees and flowers, and the Little Pigeon River.
Imagine yourself sailing slowly above the trees, up into the Smoky Mountains, as this chair lift transports you to an unparalleled view of the mountains and the town below. The Sky Lift has a vintage appearance and some may be hesitant to use this old car lift. However, the owners have invested very well in ensuring the safety of passengers. All working parts are checked regularly and inspected by supervisors. Thus this attraction has an impeccable safety record and welcomes guests of all ages.
Purchase your ticket and let the employees help you into the chair. For the elderly or disabled person, the lift will be put on hold for easy access to the chair. The steady and scenic ascent to the summit of Crocket Mountain begins. Bear Run, Mysterious Mansion, and downtown Gatlinburg will unfold underneath you. Employees are there to help you out of the chair lift at the top. Feel free to discover the beautiful area. Help yourself at the snack bar, and visit the souvenir shop. If you are carrying your own basket of food, sit at the picnic tables and enjoy. There are binoculars located on the overlook platform to enable you to see the lush forests. The area is surrounded on three sides by natural beauty.
At night you are treated to a changed Smoky Mountain thrill. Downtown Gatlinburg's glittering lights brighten this community and deliver unforgettable views.

Gatlinburg Sky Lift, Gatlinburg Reviews - Write a Review
This is my husbands favorite ride. Crazy as it may seem. He says he loves it because it relaxes him and he can see the beautiful view. You can buy a ticket that will be good for one ride or a ticket for unlimited rides until 11 p.m. Even with the discounts though, the price is steep. It cost us $42 even with the military discount.
Ride was fantastic... But... I did not feel safe at all. The entire time even going up I felt anxious and nervous, kind of like one wrong move and I could fall backwards or fall forwards. I'm not scared of heights. And even though it would take a lot to fall out, I still didn't feel comfortable. I was so panicked the entire time I didn't even really take in the view like I wanted too. Which the view is gorgeous! I was grasping the arm rest on the chair for dear life and my fiancé was trying to comfort me by holding my hand and talking to me. Even thinking about it I get uncomfortable. So I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has anxiety (like me) or a big fear of heights.
It’s a little pricey, but we paid the extra $2 a person and got unlimited rides which made it totally worth it. It’s a smooth, slow ride that kills some time and gets you off your feet. Breathtaking view of the city and mountains. It’s especially pretty at night.
Worth every dime! The lift itself gave you a fairly good amount of time to enjoy the ride and the views. And the views were breathtaking! I cannot find a better word for it, because you can see the mountains and town in every direction the entire way back down. It was a memory I'll definitely cherish.
Not the greatest in the off season. Everything was closed when we went up in the evening except the bar. The tram ride was great and we were given a free trip to come back the next morning when it was open but we did not have time to make another trip. Posting hours for everything in their brochure would be extremely helpful.
