About Hillbilly Golf, Gatlinburg
The Hillbilly called it “putt-putt” and this was their form of relaxation. Come to the Smokies and head for the hills for a soothing time at Hillbilly Golf. This is truly the world’s most unusual mini golf course. Miniature golf, also known as crazy golf, is an offshoot of its parent game. It is played on courses consisting of a series of holes similar to its parent. It is characterized by their short length usually within 10 yards from tee to cup. The use of artificial putting surfaces such as carpets, AstroTurf, and non-traditional putting lines are used. Use of bank shots, and artificial obstacles such as tunnels, tubes, ramps and moving obstacles are implemented. In the Hillbilly Golf course two challenging 18-hole courses await you. Both are peppered with mountaineer hazards, from outhouses to stills, rocky walls and lush plants. Hear a golf ball bounce off the side of a run-down tractor before rolling into a moonshine operation. Hillbilly were people who dwelled in the mountainous area of the U.S. A Hillbilly is free, can dress like he wants and speak in any manner. He drinks whiskey when he pleases and fires his revolver when he fancies. So how did he come to play golf? Guess he wanted to change his image and modernise himself! But that part which is his tradition is the Banjo. Hear Duelling Banjos playing in the background as you make your way from hole to hole.
Ride the Incline 300 feet straight up to the mountaintop above the city. Play down the incline. Take a ride in the tram to get to the first hole. Enjoy the stunning views of the city below. You will have a hard time choosing which course to take. You want to miss any of the exceptional equipment on either side. Hole seven is named after John Deere who was an American inventor and manufacturer of agricultural equipment.
During the entire course, you will lose a lot of golf balls until you come to hole 18. It is a unique experience to play mini golf in the mountains!

Hillbilly Golf, Gatlinburg Reviews - Write a Review
Our all time favorite golf here! It is so much fun. You take a rail car up the side of a mountain. There are 2 courses you can play! We have been coming for over 10 years here. It won't disappoint!
On the side of the mountain, this was a fun family outing. Traffic is horrible as you would expect but get there early enough and parking is easy. The course was enjoyable for both children and adults. The ride up the side of the hill was also enjoyable. Would definitely visit again.
We had a great time. The staff was super helpful and extra nice to our kids. We went early in the day and it wasn't crowded. It made it easier to do with small kids when you aren't holding up other golfers.
We visited Hillbilly Golf as a family. This place is a must if you enjoy putt putt and appropriate a creative mind. It's a great family environment for all ages. Putt putt on the side if a mountain! Now that's cool!
It’s hard to pick from the gazillion options in Gatlinburg for entertainment, but I was really impressed with this place. It was clean, unique, and obviously well-kept, and all employees we came in contact with were very friendly. Friendly staff makes a difference. You can tell they take pride in their business. The kids loved the ride up the hill, and the golf was unique and fun. If you’re going to play mini-golf in Gatlinburg, go here!
