We stop in here every time we go through the National Park when staying in Gatlinburg. There are rangers inside that will help answer any questions you have about the park. They have a few walking trails that start at the visitor center and even offer guided tours. The store offers a lot of souvenirs, t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, books and maps of the area and trails. The bathrooms are always well kept and clean. Be warned it is often very busy and you may have to drive around a few times to find a parking spot. Even with that being the case it is worth stopping here. They often have educational demonstrations here as well.
A cool indoor nature exhibit and 3D map of the park make this visitor center really great! The gift shop has a good variety of items, although none of the park maps or brochures seemed to be provided for free, unlike at the Park's welcome center. There are plenty of clean restrooms, vending machines, and parking spaces for park-goers who need a break.
We did a great walking trail from the Sugarland visitor center with her family. The trail was only about 3/4 of a mile and ended in a really nice waterfall for pictures. It wasn’t difficult at all as people of all ages and abilities were able to do it with us we even brought our stroller. They have bathrooms in the visitor center for before you head out and we packed a lunch ate it at the waterfall and walked back all in about two or three hours. It was a great time!
As we have travelled to Tennessee from North Carolina for years, we've stopped here many a time! The restrooms are always really well maintained, and the visitor information center is always well taken care of. The employees are genuinely friendly, and the historical landmarks and trails have already been well kept. Definitely a nice place to take a moment break from driving!
Awesome regional animal museum, with several stuffed mounts. Pretty large visitors center as compared to the majority of the 20 parks we have been to. It is a National Park, thus it is fantastic.
