Maxim Dim Sum Restaurant, Gelugor Reviews

  • Nice non-halal dim sum. Always crowded and need to wait for table. Taste is ok. Price is also reasonable. Parking is available on the roadside and also there is a basement car park behind the building which only charges per entry rate.

  • Here is so crowded, if you come here late, then you need to wait to get a seat. Price is acceptable and affordable.

  • A bit crowded. Need to go early. Very good and fast service to clean and clear the tables. Dim Sum is good, a wide variety and lots of other choices for noodles. One of the best places for Dim Sum in Penang.

  • Crowded but food is nice. Weekend wil be very crowded at breakfast hour. Good for traditional Chinese breakfast

  • Average overall quality. I would say some dim sum excels above most cuisine while two thirds were generally letdowns. Okay, it's nothing as good as Ipoh's famous dim sum areas, but still fare better than most KL by the road dim sum area (Of course, high end dim sum area in KL still trumps but the price can be exorbitant). The prawn dumpling and siew mai was good with fresh ingredients. The fried prawn roll was delicious, although the mayonaise was tad too diluted. However, the fishball was subpar as if it had been stayed frozen for far too long. The brinjal was not fried, hence lost its flavorfulness. Chee cheong fun was oversteamed and the soy sauce is too diluted, causing the taste overall was bland. The buns? Don't mention it, avoid it if at all possible. Pricing wise was acceptable.Would visit again if I do not have alternatives in Ipoh or KL, of which I definitely do. So, tough luck. Perhaps it can survive on Penangite's patriotism that Penang's food is the best. 😂
