Geneva Flower Clock Or Horloge Fleurie - Review
This “botanical time keeper” is a huge attraction in Geneva. The huge clock stands for the city’s rich history of popular watch and clock makers. The really unique attraction is a definite must visit while in the city.
5 meters in diameter, the lovely clock has been built by using manicured bushes and flowering plants to carve out the numbers, the dials and the hands. It is decorated with around 6500 of these plants and shrubs.
But isn’t all just for show. The clock can actually tell the time. Moreover, the typical Swiss precision is apparent even in this pretty art work of sorts. Most interestingly, the decorations on the clock are changed from time to time depending upon the season and the time of the year so there is always something new to see.
Geneva’s reputation as proficient watch and clock makers is well known all around the world, and the Geneva Flower Clock is possibly the most beautiful memorial to that fact. As it is out in the open, you don’t need to buy tickets for Geneva Flower Clock. It can be safely said that Geneva Flower Clock ticket prices are for free, but if you have included it in a tour of other attractions then there will be some ticket for Geneva Flower Clock. It will take you about 20 minutes from the train station (if you are walking) to reach the clock. It located on the way to Jet d'Eau but you might miss it because it is not right next to the path that leads to the water fountain. It is a very nice clock (which is actually working!) but I don't see any valid reason to stay there more than 5 minutes (unless you want to take a photo with the clock and the other tourists block the view!)
the clock is an easy walk from the Geneva train station. You also get to see the biggest water fountain in the city on the way. The clock is large and beautiful. You can see how well maintained it is.
This is truely the silliest tourist attraction i know. I have been biking passed this place daily for the last two years and I keep being amazed by the sheer amount of people this thing attracts. And the selfie people.... You guys are weirdddd!!
It is not that a big deal. It is just a clock with live flowers. And the clock is working. If you have already been to Tulip gardens in Amsterdam then it is really nothing. But the Geneva city is good, also the fountain there is something unique. The clock is near the fountain and the garden. So you can make a quick visit instead of skipping it all together.
We had been in the 80s ... Still incredible The clock is in the park next to the lake at the junction of two very important avenues where are the most famous watchmaking. The park surrounds the entire lake, is pedestrian and in August the Festival of Geneve Multicultural There are tents from several countries with their gastronomy and music throughout the park from the clock to Jet
