Museum Of Art And History - Review

The Museum of Art and History or the Musee d’art et d’histoire is a wonderful museum to visit in Geneva. If you are a culture seeker or an Art lover, this one is a certain must visit. It is once of the biggest museums in Switzerland and an institution to be reckoned with.

They have a vast and varied permanent collection and are responsible for documenting the latest art work from around the world. The collection includes art work from a very wide variety of genres including contemporary art as well as archaeological art-pieces. The sculptures, paintings, objects of art and decorations do not just depcict the progress of art over the ages but also the way life depicted in the paintings has changed over the years.

This two fold meaning given to the exhibits through their distinct theme makes it a very interesting place to visit in the city. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Geneva itinerary 1 day.

Museum Of Art And History, Geneva Reviews

  • Awesome cultural spot in Geneva located near the city's lake. This is a must and nobody should miss it out. Paintings, sculptures and architecture are shown. Free admission and super clean toilets available.

  • I loved it! It's very spacious and people do not have to squeeze..thus there's no over crowding! Art on display is amazing. Plus every first Sunday of the month, entrance is free! My favorite European museum so far.

  • My favourite museum in Geneva. It has got multiple floors of history, art and surprises. There is definitely something for everyone. One could easily spend hours inside taking in the sites and knowledge that this museum has to offer. I highly recommend the place and motivate others to visit.

  • Great museum with several floors of wonderful exhibits. The Egyptian area was my favorite with a large collection of statues, scrolls, sarcophagi, and other items. Also Roman and Geneva history. The building itself is beautiful with a nice courtyard in the middle with old stone slabs. Highly recommended!

  • Great museum with a free admission for the permanent collection. It has archaeological section with Roman and Egyptian artifacts and also a fine arts floor full of paintings from many artists including Van Gogh and Picasso. It also has a very nice restaurant/cafe in the open courtyard where you can rest and have a bite to eat after walking around.
