Lots of very cool pocket watches, table clocks, early travel clocks, and wristwatches. Amazing designs, beautifully painted and enameled details. Four floors of timepieces to see. Some items dated back to the 1500's! It could have used more description and context. They have created a guide app/device but it's not done yet, only covers one floor, and the narration is at a slow pace. Good concept though and will help future visits a lot. I had wanted to do a guided tour but the person right in front of me took the last slot. Get there early! Admission price is reasonable (10CHF). Unfortunately no photographs so leave the camera at home.
If you love Patek philippe, watches and or horology in general this is a place you have to visit and experience. The amount of history and amazing developments within the watch world which is on display is absolutely astonishing. The amazing vintage watches they have can truly excite anyone with even the slightest interest within the aforementioned topics. And everything is presented in such a beautiful, and classy way that it is just a pleasure to walk around and be astonished.
If you love watches including antique watches and pocket watches them this is a must see. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very accommodating to our groups questions. Be prepared to leave your phone's your cameras and your purses in a very secure Locker because they will not be permitted in the museum.
Fantastic museum! So many great pieces on the inside that are truly amazing. Would definitely recommend touring with a tour guide because there are so many things to see and having that knowledge from someone would really enhance your experience.
Just go. This was the biggest surprise of my trip to Geneva (aside from the price of everything.) I'm digital. I'm not mechanical but this museum was so well curated that I was totally captivated. The museum told a story that showed every possible sort of time piece. Touring the four floors of exhibits I was struck with a thought. Being able to measure and reference the time helped people plan together, a common bond that contributed to progress. No wonder these pieces were so prized. The intricacy, the beauty, the inventiveness inherant in these time pieces was staggering. A lens into cultures where things last so quality is essential.
