The Quartier Les Grottes used to be a rather notorious slum area up until the 1930s. it had acquired this bad reputation due to which, it was bought by the city of Geneva. Several attempts to reconstruct the area were either hindered or failed over the years.
Today, the area has been largely renovated and the old dilapidated shacks have been turned into colourful huge buildings. This stark revamp makes this place a highly recommended tourist attraction.
If you want to see something quite unique and off the beaten track be sure to visit this lovely area in Geneva.
- The renovation done in the area is highly commendable. The city and the buildings are taken out from the worse situation
