This is one of the weirdest museum’s you’ll ever visit. It’s basically a house an almshouse that’s supposed to send you back in time. What it actually looks like is as if the many-Earths theory was true and the inhabitants of the people from different versions of the same house are represented here. There are vintage TVs, wedding gowns, old cashier boxes, antique furniture, jigsaw puzzles, classic baby rockers even a freaking wedding cake! There’s literally nothing the place hasn’t covered. And as for the history of the building itself… lets just say you’ll have a lot more fun finding out on site. It makes the mundane sacred. It’s fascinating and it’s disorienting and it really is an intimate view into the evolution of Gent as a city, in terms of culture and lifestyle. It does what the City Museum cant make Gent personal.
