Located close to the Giresun Castle is the Kale Camii or the Castle Mosque. This small, square structure with an arched roof and minaret can easily be mistaken for a very pretty house. The inscriptions on the mosque state that it was built in 1830 and renovated by a Giresun citizen in 1911. The mosque is made in the typical Turkish tradition and is flanked by a lone minaret for company. It is likely that this mosque was used for worship by the inhabitants of the Giresun Castle. Whatever be its purpose, the building is an architectural beauty and should not be overlooked if visiting the Giresun Castle.
