Fort Williams is one of the important historic places to visit in Glasgow. Erected in 1863, this fort is named after Union general Thomas Williams. He was killed in the battle of Baton Rouge. You will get to see the Civil War-era battlefield here along with a cemetery. The fort that you see today was reconstructed on the site of the previous fort. As the fort is located on top of the small hill, you will be welcomed by sweeping views of Glasgow. Consider taking a tour of Fort Williams to understand local history.
