Glasgow City Chambers - Review

The Glasgow city chambers are the heart of the political functioning of the city. Not only that, they are also a part of it’s past. The lovely Victorian architecture of the building is certainly a sight to see. The four story building is an impressive one standing in the heart of the city of Glasgow.

The official rooms are quite well decorated and for the most part the older charm of the interiors has been retained. Even though it is a functioning office building, it still hosts guided tours twice daily that allow entry into most of the halls and rooms. Not to be missed is the huge and impressive Banqueting hall. Also be sure to see the upper gallery. This attraction brings you the best of both worlds; the image of Victorian Scotland as well as the modern state it has become. Culture-seekers should certainly visit it.

Glasgow City Chambers, Glasgow Reviews

  • Get on the tour for this building as the staff and the building are sensational. It's a interior made up of marble and mosaic with a staircase higher than the Vatican City. Relatively new building for Glasgow as it was built in 1888 but has all of the opulence given it is at the height of the Victorian era. Tour is free and takes between 45 and 60 minutes

  • Fantastic building inside and out I was there just for training for the European championships that start in a couple of weeks Hard to describe that's is why I have posted a few pictures of entrance, staircase and of course the banquet hall were we had our training session

  • Amazing building. They do 2 free tours of the building at 10.30 and 2.30 Monday to Friday, and you do not book, simply turn up 30 minutes beforehand. Alas, when we turned up for the 2.30 tour, we were told that it had been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances but We were allowed instead to wander freely on the ground floor as a taste of what we missed so that was okay. The building opened in 1889 with gorgeous Italian marble staircases, and, appears to be exceedingly well maintained. Please leave a like.

  • Beautiful building, visited today to take part in media training for European championships next month, A wee photo opportunity to capture some of the fantastic interior design dating from 1888

  • Amazing building with a great history, so much to see. Will do it again sometime
