The Barras has a very enchanting story to tell. A young fruit-seller opened a small shop here at a tender age of twelve. The place slowly grew and became very popular. The young fruit seller and her husband soon started a thriving business by acquiring land around the area making it into what it is today; one of the most important markets of Glasgow.

The indoor market is as bright and vibrant as it was then. It is also called Barrowland which is the English verision of the dialectical Barras. It is an amazing exepreince to just walk around the place and observe all the wares and enjoy the atmosphere. Besides, there are also quite a few shops selling food as well as restaurants and bars to eat at. All in all, it is a lovely place to sample the culture of Scotland.
