The Garage is a music venue and nightclub located at 490 Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow which opened in 1994. It is Scotland's largest nightclub. The Main Hall was formerly a ballroom known as The Mayfair, although it has since been remodelled by the addition of an extension to the mezzanine level. Apart from the Main Hall, other areas of the venue include the R'n'B-themed G2 club in the basement, the Indie rock-themed Attic, Snapshots Bar and The Engine Room Cocktail Bar. As well as hosting night events, The Garage also offers day-time events such as their weekly Zumba and salsa classes, which are available to the public. The main entrance has the cab of a truck projecting out over the doors to the venue. As a gig venue, it is primarily known as a stepping-stone for bands which are attempting to make their way to the top, which is very similar to the O2 ABC Glasgow. The Garage also has rooms available to be hired for public events, Band Room, Lounge, Balcony, Cocktail Bar, Attic and G2. They can cater for over 300 people or provide smaller, exclusive rooms for private parties.

The Garage, Glasgow Reviews - Write a Review

  • In with my son tonight,as an over 60 year old,it was good to see all enjoying the bar, very friendly and courteous and great bar and security staff......first class venue, thank you for a good evening

  • Very disappointed. I don't usually write reviews but I felt that this had to be stated for any future visitors - my friends and I have been going to the Garage for a number of years but recently the staff have been very rude and disrespectful. There have been 2 very minor altercations at our last two visits and the staff have completely over-escalated the situation as a matter of showing their power. It's just not been enjoyable and it will most likely be the last time we will be going. Disappointing from a place that we used to love so much.

  • The place has the worst stuff ever, they are rude and angry for no reason, especially big bearded guy. I went there with another 5 of my college friends but the bouncer didn't let me in saying I don't have friends therefore I can't enter. I was standing there with another 5 people and we were at the door together but the guy kept pretend he doesn't hear me saying that which looked ridiculous. He also was rude to the people that were in front of us. So me and 5 of my friends went to Campus and the stuff there let us in with a smile and happy faces, and we really enjoyed the night in there. I'd never recommend The garage to anyone, my worst experience ever.

  • Been a long time since I attended a club night here but in my younger days it was a favourite. Visits now are for gigs. Good little venue. Even if your at the back of the room you'll have a great view of the stage.

  • Good place to drink a beer/Longdrink and go dancing. A lot of young people (
