Built from the Shelly Limestone, the Somerset Rural Life Museum housed in the 14th-century barn depicts the socio agricultural history of Somerset through its Victorian and early 20th century displays of the barn and the courtyard such as the local craftworks, mud house fishing, willow coppicing and production of dairy products. The two galleries - Working Village and Working the Land speak of the transitional phase of the Abbey Farm while the Mapstone Gallery showcases creative artworks and the Farmhouse Gallery houses some excellent painting depicting the early Somerset life. The Abbey Barn and Farmhouse of Somerset Rural Life Museum, as well as the Apple and Cider Orchard and Shepherd’s Hut, will impress you.
