The Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum serves as the repository of the state for the mineral heritage of Colorado and promotes its significance and understanding to the public. It is home to one of the two Goodwill moon rocks in the state that were collected at the time of Apollo 17 mission that began in 1874. Today, it displays fossils, gemstones, minerals, meteorite as well as historic mining artefact exhibits on its two floors. The Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum aims to inspire curiosity through research and education while encouraging earth’s appreciation and responsibility for the natural treasures.
