Puerto de Mogan is situated on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria and is the most picturesque resort on the island. Residents claim that the Puerto de Mogan weather is the best in the world! This is a pedestrianised (closed to vehicles, open to pedestrians) town of two-storey apartment buildings with roof terraces and small gardens bursting with bougainvillea, palm trees, bird-of-paradise flowers, hibiscus and other colourful plants. It is also known as "La Venecia de Canarias" (the "Venice of the Canaries") as it is built around a marina and fishing harbour, and has channels of water passing under arches in the buildings and between the port and the beach. A quaint and beautiful town where one can spend a couple of days soaking in the peace around. For those who want a bit of excitement, there are jet skis for hire, parascending, sport-fishing excursions and submarine trips to a local wreck. Various hotels, clubs and restaurants are available to cater to visitors for their stay here.

  • Lovely little place! They don't call it "Little Venice" for no reason. The streets around the marina are filled with flowers and beautiful buildings, with a great selection of restaurants and cafes looking out over the marina! If you love an Irish breakfast, there are 2 great places to choose from! With weekly markets, a variety of shops (including duty-free) and other great stuff to do, highly recommend as a place to visit!

  • Was told about this place from our dive centre. Drove down on the motorway. Was easy to find the parking was a bit of a bind but don't let it put you off. There is plenty of parking. We went to the market in the centre of town. Then we made our way to the beach and found the old town market. The prices are a bit steep but you can barter. We walked back through the houses the flowers hanging down was beautiful. Beautiful place well worth a visit.

  • If only the planning authorities had kept more of this kind of architecture on the island! It is such a charming, photogenic place with some great shopping opportunities and lovely cafés. The first time I came on market day with the ferry and while very busy with too many tourists, it was a lovely morning. I went back a couple of days later with the bus and spent the day at the lovely little beach and enjoyed a delicious lunch watching people. I love this place and when I win the lottery, a little holiday home here would be just perfect.

  • Beautiful place. Buildings well maintained. A little more upmarket than some of the other locations on the island ideal for the 60 plus age group that maybe don't want the busy night life etc

  • Friday is market day and plenty of choice for a bargain on nearly anything you want. plenty of places to eat and drink and they all serve very good food and drinks. small beach with ample seating and shades. a really pleasant place to visit or stay.
