The Abyss falls on the Hermit Trail on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and is one of the most scenic points in the Canyon. The spectators point is extended a little ahead from the edge almost giving you a near vertical look. You can see about 20 miles in all direction from here. The layered canyon looks absolutely stunning from the ‘The Abyss’. Monument Creek stands right below the Abyss where people generally camp down.

The Abyss Reviews & Ratings
A must see stop on the Red Route for Hermits Rest. Take the Red Route Bus and make sure to get off at The Abyss. Most people make the mistake of not exploring the area to the left and right of the bus stop. Do not do this the best views are to the right and left of the bus stop location. Get off the bus take some time to absorb all the beauty here. Great views, flora and fauna abound. Great place to watch the White Throated Swift's dancing in the wind.
It's one of the most spectacular views in Grand Canyon
