On the southern fringe of the Grand Canyon, the Lookout Studio is a part of the Historic District of the Grand Canyon. Also known as the “Lookout”, the facility within Grand Canyon National Park has a souvenir shop, observation deck, and telescope on the outdoor terrace. Designed by Mary Colter to compete as a photography studio with Kolb Studio, the Lookout studio is built of jagged rocks resembling the indigenous and rustic structures of the area. The Lookout Studio at the canyon edge is equipped with three levels. The main level has enclosed observation area and gift shop while the lower observation platform has an enclosed watchtower.
