Managed by the Scottish Natural Heritage, the Craigellachie National Nature Reserve (entrance) is a serene oasis with towering silver birch woodland, tree-fringed lochs and open glades. The crags overlooking the Cairngorms National Park look like sleeping giants from the woodland. There are four trails running through the Craigellachie National Nature Reserve (entrance) from Avimore and you will get to explore abundant insect and bird activities, especially during spring and summer. You will find the Youth Hostel at the entrance that acts as a visitor center with informative panels. You will also enjoy the live webcam footage of the Pergrine Falcon nest located on the crags.
