Built in 1144 and restored in 1659, the Lecce Cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Located on one of Italy’s most beautiful squares, Piazza del Duomo, this cathedral is a major place of worship in the local community. The principal entrance of the cathedral can be found on the northern facade and is said to be a masterpiece of Baroque Art. The interior of the cathedral is based on a Latin cross design with three aisles and is well decorated with artworks of early local artists.
