The Fort Hommet overlooking the English Channel is a coastal fortification from the 17th century Victorian Era and boasts of the 1940’s gun casemates. From the Headland car park, the fort can be accessed by a small walk. You can explore the 1804’s Martello Tower and the 1856’s Barrack Block which is now in ruins. The Fort Hommet was built as a fortification to defend the city from the French army. You will find the restored gun site and the searchlight bunker built during the World War II by the German Occupying Force. The Gun Casemate along with original weapons, flamethrowers, mortars, and firearms are displayed here.
