  • Very interesting outdoor museum with real farm houses from all over the Black Forest. Some homes are working farms with horses, cattle, goats, etc. We learned a lot about life and survival in the Black Forest and some houses have smaller, specialized museums on forestry, crafts, religion etc. While everything is written in English, I recommend the audio guide because it gives you more detailed and specialized information. Good for kids, teens, and adults. Lots of narrow stairs to climb and the outdoor paths are gravel.

  • It is a nice and interesting place that gives you a good insight in culture and history. It shows you how people have lived and worked in Black Forest farmhouses over the last 400 years. Daily handicraft demonstrations. Plan much time half a day minimum. The buildings are described in German, French and English. There is a nice picnic and playground area with a kiosk and a restaurant with beergarden. Free guided tours in English: In July and in August daily at 1:00 pm.

  • I loved this. Instead of little version of houses in the region this museum has full size buildings moved from all over the region. You really get to touch and walk through and learn the history of the buildings.

  • Very rich in farming history. Good place to visit and learn the German farming history in the black forest. Restaurants and parking lot available. Guided tour available

  • Very pleasant surprise... Much better than a museum. Kids had lots of fun and we learned some nice information about the history of the black forest.
