Assam State Museum - Review

Assam State Museum is a representation of the unique culture and tradition of the north-eastern state. It surpasses all the other museums in India, as the biggest multipurpose museum displaying collections in a variety of sections, like archaeology, iconography, epigraphy and even numismatics.

There is also an exhibit of the traditional weaving in Assam State Museum, along with other handicraft products, like locally-made cane and bamboo items, toys, pottery, etc. The library of the museum is situated upstairs and is the best place to go, if you want to get any information on the various items present therein.

Besides, age-old paintings and manuscripts are also present in the museum, giving the onlookers a gist of the rich culture and heredity of the state.   • I visited the museum recently with one of my friend. We sighted every collections and all. We were very happy to find out all that. Specially I liked the historical collections part, as got amazed by how it used to be.....

  • Indeed a huge museum. Well maintained and covers the entire history of Assam from world war to current developments. Worth a visit to get some useful knowledge about the state. One can spend an entire day at this place. Tickets are also very cheap. Rs5 per person

  • Big museum.ancient Sculptures and various other manuscript are very well preserved here. Very nice place even the visit fee is also less. Starts from 2.5₹ for student group and 5₹ for individuals. Lots of hindu devi devta idols also present best place for historical INFORMATION ND CULTURE.

  • Here you will get to experience village life of Assam. Will get to know about Assamese & their life style. Japani Bomb in weapons section surely will surprise you. Must visit place in Guwahati. Timing : 10 am to 4:30 pm (Tuesday to Sunday). Monday is closed.
