Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden, Guwahati Reviews - Write a Review
Awesome place. Although little small from Delhi zoo but enjoyable. It is quite upscale place though so old age person find it difficult to visit. A snake section is also here. The views and atmosphere here is magnificent. Even in a hot day you will find this place very cool and peaceful.
Been to this place many times and one thing that I have noticed every time is the poor condition of most of the Animals!!! May be the management is trying to keep it like wild and natural, but they aren't successful as expected!!! It's good but state level zoo should be far better than what it is now!! Now, let's talk about what is inside the zoo. You will get to see the vast variety of birds including the rare Macaw, black bear, elephant, variety of wild cats, some of the rare species of snakes, species of monkey's, hippopotamus and of course the proud of Assam the one horned rhinoceros among others. Eco friendly shuttle transportation service is available for the needy people inside the zoo. Parking is available but expensive. 1 paid washroom is also there inside the zoo. Overall a good destination for a weekend trip, and a very good place for children.
Green, clean and refreshing. Family, friends, gangs and children all are welcome. But the infrastructure is detorieting., I went there five six years ago and it's same as of today, except the jungle safari Electric cars. Lest, Nothing much has changed. It feels the animals are not fed well. It has a great potential for a great tourist site. It also can be made into an adventure spot. They just need to be a bit creative. The mountains would do the rest. Nevertheless, it's a great place to move about and spend the day.
Not the best of the zoos I have been to.. A lot can be improved.. There are huge, fenced unoccupied spaces that lack animals.. More animals can be kept in such spaces.. Zoo lacks direction boards.. It's possible for a visitor to go round and round and still miss some points. Wild, rogue monkeys are in abundance here that cause a lot of trouble to visitors.
This is the only place in the heart of the Guwahati city for all types of people to spend some time in natural environment. Have opportunities to learn about different types of flora and fauna. Easy to reach and have recreational facilities both for adults and children.
