Dipor Bil - Review
The Deepor Beel or ‘Dipor Bil’ is a permanent, freshwater lake, in a former channel of the Brahmaputra river, to the south of the main river south-west of Guwahati city. It is a large natural wetland having great biological and environmental importance besides being the only major storm water storage basin for the Guwahati city. The beel is endowed with rich floral and faunal diversity.
Deepor Bil supports some globally threatened species of birds like Spotbilled Pelican (Pelecanus philippensis), Lesser Adjutant Stork (Leptoptilos javanicus), Baer’s Pochard (Aythya baeri), Palas Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster), Greater Adjutant Stork (Leptoptilos dubius). The Siberian crane (Grus leucogeranus) regularly migrates to this habitat on its annual journeys.
In addition to huge congregation of residential water birds, the Deepor ecosystem harbours large number of migratory waterfowl each year. Deepor beel has been designated as a Ramsar Site in November 2002.

Dipor Bil, Guwahati Reviews
Great drive to this place from the Guwahati city traffic. Peaceful place to spend few hours. The visibility of birds depends on the time and season you visit here. Tourist have not exploited this place like other wildlife sanctuaries. Periodically cleaning and proper weight disposal can help to keep this place shrine. As there is no entry fee the maintenance has to come from government.
The evening was hazy and the mood was sad... a thousand memories vanished as they came... you can sit, relax and enjoy the evening hues. away from hustle of cityscape.
Wow.....!!!! What a beautiful place!!!!!.....It was quite an amazing and beautiful experience. I visited such a beautiful place for the first time in my life. It was quite peaceful and one of the most happiest day of my life. It's scenery is quite mesmerizing. A very beautiful place. Must visit for nature lovers,!!!!
Great place with greenery all around. Awesome for sight seeing. Anyways a good place to relax. Refreshments available all around.
Quite a beautiful place to visit. I will recommend any and everyone to visit it if possible. There is a very high tower inside the the small campus. One can view varieties of bird (in certain times of the year not all the time) from it, in the surrounding huge lake also enjoy the scenic beauty around the lake. Really a cool and a nice place to visit.
