The Guwahati Planetarium is an astronomical research and science center. This is the only planetarium in north-east India. It uses the Japanese Goto GX instrument, which includes the starfield projector, the theatre’s sound system and special-effects. One can easily spot the planetarium on Guwahati’s skyline thanks to its ornamental dome. There are daily shows in Hindi, English and Assamese. Apart from the regular visits, the planetarium also organises exhibitions, outdoor viewing of solar eclipses, quizzes and conferences as well. Research is a major business of this planetarium and there often are educational programs and presentations as well. Sky watching sessions are also held regularly.
