Navagraha Temple or the temple of the nine celestial bodies is located in the south eastern part of Guwahati in Assam, on a hill by name Chitrachal. As the name indicates, Navagraha Temple is dedicated to the nine planets in the solar system. Navagraha Temple at Guwahati Assam is a centre of astrological and astronomical research. The Navagraha temple as it stands today was built by the ruler Rajeswar Singh in late 18th century AD.

In Navagraha Temple Enshrined nine Shivalingams, representing the nine Celestial bodies, each covered with a colored garment symbolic of each of the celestial bodies. The nine planetary gods, namely area - Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Brihaspati (Jupiter), Sukra (Venus), Sani (Saturn), Ketu and Rahu. The best time to visit this temple is in the months of November to March.

Whenever you get an opportunity to come here you can feel assured that there are many temples in Guwahati but it is one of them The temple is worshiped here, the Navagraha is worshiped there and lots

Come and find the temple’s mythological blend with astrology and astronomy. 500 metres away from the city rush with 100m elevation approx., nice viewpoint. Recommended for an early morning walk.
