Sung Sot Cave - Review

Sung Sot Cave is situated in the centre of the Surprise and is a great spectacle for anyone that visits it. The cave is picturesque and sees a lot of tourists all year round. So if you are someone who loves a bit of adventure then this place is the perfect fit for you. There are many stalactites that hang from the walls of the cave and give the place a beautiful form and shape. The caves look splendid and the deepest point in the chamber has garden that is spectacular. There is also a pond and small mountains covering it.

  • It is more than a surprise to visit the amazing cave between the limestone mountains. The walk was easily managed and the hardest climb is actually in the beginning of trail. The cave is much cooler in temperature and the light setting is artistically located to highlight the nature and beauty of the surprise.

  • The caves are a must see if you're visiting Halong Bay. The sheer scale of the cave will have you in awe. The intricate rock formations, the passages, the lighting seeping in from the holes and cavities in the mountain make up for some H.R. Geiger style environment but instead of seeing them in one of his movies, you can experience it in real life. Certain parts of the cave can be slippery based on the season you visit it in, so treading with caution would be a great idea. Upon exiting the cave you'll be greeted by Halong Bay again at a certain height with makes up for some wonderful views.

  • The supposed "surprise" was the larger chambers of the cave that were found as the French explored inwards... or was it! 😂 It seems a good dick joke has been enjoyed for hundreds of years by both explorers and by all cultures based on the lighting of the "surprise" by the Vietnamese 🐓

  • The cave is a must see if you visit Halong Bay. I am quite sure all of the tour operators there would include this in the itinerary. It is such a big and beautiful cave with breathtaking views of the sea just when you come out of it. It might be slippery sometimes so caution should be exercised.

  • A great place to visit. The stalactites and stalacmites in real formation. Really enjoyed myself
