Sea Turtle Hatchery, Habaraduwa Reviews
Unique of its kind - major pro. Cons: can be managed better. Need someone who can speak better English. We saw many turtle species but wasn't told the difference clearly. Among all, definitely worth going once
Definitely worth checking out! They’ll let you hold the turtles and if you visit at night you can go with them as they release the turtles back into the ocean. The admission is 500 Sri Lankan, which seems a little steep, but it’s worth it. (You might be able to negotiate.) Also, be careful which turtles you pet, some of them are superrrr dangerous.
Good location that seem to be a "decent" and somehow "ethical" hatchery. It's hard to tell with those places. The turtles are kept in relatively small tanks but they are building bigger ones. The baby are in a separate one waiting to be released. They also foster a hanticap turtle which it's sad but cute to see. You can put baby turtles at see for 1500Rs and they give you about 5-8 babies per person. Good to go in group since you can see more babies go to the sea all together. The activity last about 1 hour but there is no one to answer your question. Really cute, and joyful activity. Would work perfect for families.
It's a marvellous place to visit. Very knowledgeable guide will explaining.
This is a good place for a short visit while you are traveling from Galle or Colombo towards Merissa. One can cover everything in almost an hour or 2. The guide is not very fluent in English but acquired enough knowledge about sea turtles and it's habitats. Entry fee is little high but it's worth. All the varieties of sea turtle which is naturally present in srilanka is present there.
