The Pauwela Point Lighthouse is an observatory in Haiku- Pauwela, Hawaii. The lighthouse is basically a light on a long pole which sits on the lovely sea cliffs on the west edge of Kuiaha Bay. Visitors can take a walk or hike around the area which goes through the edge of the grassy buffs overlooking coconut palm trees. You can get some wonderful views of the coast from about 100 feet above the ocean. Near the observatory are Pa’uwela Point Park, Puhala Bay and Eleilei Bay.
Found this on googlemaps during our stay and didn't know what to expect. The "lighthouse" is a tall steel ladder and platform where a light used to be, lol wish we had known that beforehand. The road is an absolute mess of jungle and bog so do not wear anything touristy and definitely don't drive it unless you have a beefy 4x4. Aside from that the hike was quite fun and there are amazingviews from the clifftops, there was also a small rocky beach a ways to the east that surfers can paddle out from to catch some great waves.
