Dating back to the late 19th century, the Hakodate Horse race track was restored and refurbished and later opened in 2010 after 2 years of shutting down. The place has two tracks- a grass track and a dirt track and arranges 1000, 1200, 1700, 1800, 2000 and 2600 metre races at its main course along with 1000, 1700 and 2400 metre races on the dirt track.

The race is most crowded for three races- the Hakodate Sprint Stakes, the Hakodate Kinen and the Hakodate Nisai Stakes. Although the international idea of a horse race includes dressing in a strict code, this place is loved for its laid back ambience, sheer admiration and the raw and rustic love of the gorgeous creatures! See some of the best breeds of horses here with some rather famous horsemen.  During peak season, betting here is more thrilling than a gamble in Vegas!
