The Takubokusho Park extends along the Tsugaru Strait and offers a picture perfect view of the harbours around Hakodate and the distant Shimokita Peninsula. This park is not as crowded as some of the other parks around the city but a walk here is loved by photographers. If you want to go for a relaxing walk or simply want to have some quiet time with a fantastic view- coming here is a no brainer! The Yu no River hot spring can also be seen from here.
The Takigi statue is a highlight of the park and is one of the popular viewpoints around the city. The statue was created by Honbyo Shinki- a famous sculpture and was donated to the park in 1964. During New Years, you can come here in the early morning to see the sunrise (It is a common custom to see the sunrise on the first day of the year to make a wish). There are ample of seats available around where you can spend some time admiring the view.
