Shinanoki Ichinoyu, Hakone Reviews
The inn offers a great introduction to Japanese cuisine and the onsen experience. The food is accompanied with handy manuals on how to correctly prepare the dishes of the evening meals. This was only added about a year ago and it shows the effort the management takes to help it's clients. The rooms that are equipped with a private onsen are equipped with plastic tatami and a kotatsu. I cannot say anything about the other rooms as I've not stayed there. In both instances where I've been at this inn I've had a good time and did not have any shortcomings. This is the inn I recommend when venturing to Hakone.
Absolutely loved staying here! The staff were very friendly and helpful however spoke limited English. The half board (breakfast and dinner) provided was very authenticated and superb. The in room open-air, hot spring bath was a whole new experience, fit 2 adults comfortably. The Venetian Glass Museum and closest Seven eleven were a short walk away. Not suitable for long stays as there were no laundry services offered and no elevators. The Hakone Kowakien Yunessun, Lake Ashi and Hakone Shrine are not too far by bus. This place was perfect on a budget!
So far the more expensive place we have been to, and the less compliant with Japanese style: hosts no very welcoming, old school shower with hot water working alternatively, exterior not maintained very well. The food was good however and the waitresses nice.
We stayed in this hotel 2 times, 5 years and 3 months ago. I enjoyed my first stay, food and services, hot spring are very nice. The second stay is not as good as before. In room rivate hot spring is just hot water.
located across from Venetian glass museum and almost 30min by bus from Hakone Yumoto station. The room, hotel, hotspring baths are clean and well maintained. The meals are good. The services are good. The rooms in separate cottages have insuite private open air hotspring bath and are spacious and nice. Reasonable pricing.
