About Venetian Glass Museum, Hakone

You will be welcomed to this museum that looks like a European villa, by a forest of glass trees. And if that did not leave you awestruck yet, the inside of the museum will surely have the desired effect on you. There are 500 antique pieces of Venetian Glass, out of which 100 are always on display. Along with vintage pieces from the 15th -18th centuries, there are modern pieces that use the antique glass. The best thing about the museum is that they organise glass-making classes, which will give you a better understanding of the process how these beautiful creations are made. Visitors even have the option to borrow masks and cloaks to feel more at Venice while admiring the exquisite craftsmaship.

Venetian Glass Museum, Hakone Reviews

  • Don't bother paying ¥1400. Worst experience of my whole 3 month trip to Japan. The Glass is nice but not worth the entrance fee. Underwhelming. Boring. Maybe it's a novelty for the orient but I'd rather save my money and go to Europe. Would have been less disappointed had I spent $15 on eBay & the item not show up. Try the open air museum instead. Would give 0 stars if allowed.

  • Nice piece of glasses to see. Nothing very special but if you are around, it worth to visit. If you are lucky you can listen live violin concert from an expert. This part is the most enjoyable part. You can check the schedule of the concert from the museum's website.

  • It was s rainy morning otherwise we would skip it. Nonetheless it was a pleasant experience but the tickets are overpriced. It might be exotic to Japanese people but after all why not to go to Venice if you are interested in Venetian glass.

  • Takes about 30 minutes to finish everything. The place is mainly focused on the entrance's "glass tunnel". Great environment with gorgeous view of autumn leaves. Great attraction for couples and families. Moreover, they also provide free locker space at the entrance, so you could comfortably enjoy the place. However, if you are taking the local bus, please check the timetable carefully. Sometimes, if the bus was too crowded, you will need to think for an alternative way.

  • A great family affair to see, eat and play beside all the hotspring ryokan around!
