Half Moon Bay is a coastal city in San Mateo County, California, United States. Its population was 11,324 as of the 2010 census. Immediately at the north of Half Moon Bay is the Pillar Point Harbor and the unincorporated community of Princeton-by-the-Sea. The urban area had a population of 20,713 at the same census.

The Fitzgerald Marine Reserve protects a collection of plants and animals living close to the sea. In winter, you will be able to watch the migration of thousands of whales from a cruise. Most of the scenic beaches around Half Moon Bay are located along Highway 1. The seaside town plays host to the annual Art and Pumpkin Festival. The bay also sees the Classics by the Sea Car Show sometime in summer. Surfing is a widely-practiced sport here so if you can surf, you will have a gala time in the waters near the bay.
