On the Atlantic Coast of North America, touching the Gulf of Maine the Bay of Fundy is located. The tides of this bay are semidiurnal and can reach about 55 feet in high tide. Due to such a high tidal force, a number of power plants have been set up. The floors of the basin are mostly made of Tholeiitic basalts from the volcanic eruption. Hence the colour of the floor is brownish. There are two basins formed by this bay –Chignecto Bay in the north and Minas Basin in the east. You can see eroded rock formations, especially the Hopewell Rocks in low tides. It is a home to several islands such as Grand Manan, Brier Island, Deer Island and Moose Island.
