  • Wonderfully friendly & knowledgeable guide who spoke several languages. We were able to enjoy the salt mines only because this location was open n the off season. The walking wasn't overwhelming as in other mines and the slides were great fun...only wish there were more than 2!

  • We really enjoyed our tour of the salt mine. To get to the mine you have to hike up, or take the funicular, and then walk up a hill about 15 minutes. The tour lasts about 90 minutes, and you walk down into the cave in your miners apparel, go down some slides, and take a train back to the surface. The tour was very interesting, with a guide in English. The videos within the tour have English subtitles. I was worried about being claustrophobic, but didn't have a problem with the tour. Touring here really helped us understand the region better and we really enjoyed it. The miner's slides are great fun for adults and kids alike! The second slide will clock your speed and take your photo. Would recommend it for all ages. However, the tour is not incredibly accessible for those with mobility issues. Also, great place to cool off in the heat of the day, as the mines are much cooler.

  • Good variety of souvenirs here. There was also toilet facilities here which are much needed in cold weather for frequent toilet users like me.

  • Hallstatt is very beautiful place. And it is well worth it to take a tour in the old salt mine. Experience that the family does always remember. The tour in the mine was a fantastic experience. I'd recommend hiking up the hill. You see things like the imperial mine entrance you'd never see otherwise and the view is amazing.

  • So much fun in the Salzwelten! Learning and playing! We have not only learnt the development of the salt but also the history of local people explored the salt. Our tour guide can speak fluent English with a beautiful accent. German and English explanation together. My friend thinks this is the greatest place we have been in Austria.
