Miniatur Wunderland - Review

Arguably the foremost reason people visit Hamburg today, this is the world largest model train museum and has been charming people for just over a decade now. Located in the old Warehouse district, the exhibit covers over 12 km of track over seven geographical sections. Intricate, highly detailed, intelligently organized and beautifully presented, there’s at least half a day’s worth of wonder to be enjoyed here. Seriously, word cannot describe it. Naturally, this is the place to bring your kids. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Hamburg itinerary 2 days.

  • Such a cool place! We even got in the door without advanced booking and no queue by arriving later in the evening. Despite this luck, it was still quite busy inside. We spent a little more than two hours looking over everything and enjoying all of the jokes embedded. The level of detail is mind blowing. You absolutely MUST go here.

  • First advice is buy ticket online and set your arrival time slot. Don’t worry about not making it because you have 1 hour period and extra 15 minutes delay acceptance. If you still can’t make it, you can change to a new time or day on their website as long as you didn’t past the original booked period. Good overall experience for all ages. It’s amazing to see the level of details on the €20m setup. They have nice cafe with train seats. Attraction not to be missed when you are in Hamburg!

  • I saw a video of this place on facebook and thought it looked pretty cool. That video is nothing compared to seeing it in real life. The amount of detail that has been put into the displays is incredible. I think that even if you're not into this sort of thing (model villages) you will still enjoy it here. Id recommend this place to everyone.

  • Definitely worth the road trip! This place is incredible, with an astonishing level of detail. You could spend days and not see all the little surprises in these scenes, some of which are world-famous, some which are fantasy. Make sure to reserve tickets in advance, and expect to spend the better part of a day here. And the food at the bistro is good too!

  • It is definitely the best model railroad in the world! We came all the way from Berlin just to see it and we were vastly impressed. Great place for families with kids as well as for train enthusiasts. There is so much to see that you could come back another day. It also offers a shop and a train-themed restaurant. Great value for money. Advice, buy the tickets in advance from their website (15 euros each)
