Arguably the foremost reason people visit Hamburg today, this is the world largest model train museum and has been charming people for just over a decade now. Located in the old Warehouse district, the exhibit covers over 12 km of track over seven geographical sections. Intricate, highly detailed, intelligently organized and beautifully presented, there’s at least half a day’s worth of wonder to be enjoyed here. Seriously, word cannot describe it. Naturally, this is the place to bring your kids. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Hamburg itinerary 2 days.

  • Depending on the day of the week, the museum may close later.
  • The Restaurant serves basic but good food.
  • Book online. There are long queues.
  • There has been much complaint about the lack of wheelchair access.

  • Kehrwieder 2

  • Speicherstadt Kaffee
  • SOUP CITY
  • Chocolatajaja

  • You can easily spend many hours here. The quality of the landscapes is impressive and there are countless amazing details to discover. The train network, car system, and airport have an enormous technical depth and the overall level of details is just mind-blowing. I would love to come back soon. Tip: buy your tickets online to skip the waiting time.

  • Very easy to spend many hours here. The exhibits are so detailed and extensive that you can lose hours here trying to see everything. The quality of the dioramas is amazing and well worth the entry fee. We went as a couple but is also great with kids, if you're interested in models then you really can't miss it. It's probably the one thing to visit if you're in Hamburg.

  • I'm not a big model railway freak but the running airport was great. The live departures and arrivals screen is fantastic - look for the special call signs for some surprises. I challenge you to find the UFO also in the countryside.

  • A masterpiece of arts. A true wonderland. They have created famous European cities in models along with the train network and road networks across Europe and couple of American cities. Also there are things like special effects than one can see after pressing the push buttons at each model. Simply amazing to the minute details. Very much fun for children. A treat for adults. Worth visiting when in Hamburg.

  • Absolutely Mind blowing! The level of details and planning is massive. At first I thought I'd be over in about an hour but turns out not so... Prepare over 4-5hrs or even more if you want to enjoy every little detail. It might also be better to book it online before arriving to save some time due to the wait time during peak season. A "To see" places in Hamburg, absolutely recommend it.
