The prominent spire of this church is the most recognizable sight in the Hamoburg skyline. The church is Lutheran and is also the largest in the city, with a seating capacity fo 2500. Hamburgers call it Michel. Beautiful, classical and old as anything, the must do things in the church include taking the elevator to the top of the tower, visiting the catacombs, and a long look at the Baroque interiors.

St Michaels Church, Hamburg Reviews - Write a Review
Iconic church of Hamburg. It was broken and rebuilt three times. Magnificent architecture. Take 450 steps to get a spellbounding view of the city and harbours. Inside of the Church is no less grand
453 steps to get to the top. Each of them worth it to enjoy a nice view over the port of Hamburg and the city. If you don't like the stairs you can take the lift, but you won't see the inside of the tower and the big clockwork.
Beautiful views of Hamburg from the tower. Small fee to climb to the top (separate fee to see the crypt). Only a short wait to take the elevator up the tower. I recommend a visit to this site when you are in Hamburg, schedule approximately thirty minutes for this visit (more if you plan to see the crypt and church interior).
Great view over Hamburg! It's open till 10:30 pm during the summer. I got there just before sunset and the view was spectacular. A bit pricey (€10) but is worth the view. There is also an elevator so you don't need to climb 400+ stairs. I was told that there is also a cafe inside which I didn't go.
A must when visiting Hamburg. The church is a symbol of the city. The interior is simple but beautiful, and the tower has one of the best views in all of Hamburg.
