African Lion Safari - Review

Home to approximately 1000 animals, the African Lion Safari is a family owned safari park that is a must visit for wild life enthusiasts. Spanning over 740 acres, visitors can tour any or all of the seven game reserves where animals like lion, giraffe and elephants roam freely. Guests are allowed to tour the facility in their own vehicles or have the option of hopping on a tour bus that takes them through the park.

The Park was founded by retired colonel Gordon Debenham who had an intense passion for animals. The park also has a walking area where birds and animals like parrots, macaws, elephants, flamingos and rabbits can be seen.

  • Great place to visit and bring kids. The Safari experience is very fun, specially if you're lucky to see the animals more active or stretching under the sun to warn up (fall had this advantage). The kids playground and splash pad (summer) are great and safe... Very fun! The shows totally worth it. Special exercises done to examine the animals, and to keep their body and mind sharp, are demonstrated in a very fun and informative presentation to all ages.

  • I REALLY had a great time at the African lion safari, and this is coming from a 23 year old. Its not just for young kids. The idea is great! A large majority of the animals are not kept in small cages but rather they get to roam around freely (in large fenced off areas) but still not your typical zoo. If you go you have to watch the bird shows, they have a bird's of paradise and a bird's of prey show and they are both phenomenal. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Me and wife had an amazing time and we would highly recommend this to all of you!

  • Very nice place for a whole day outing. Lots of entertainment for kids- splash area, animal presentations, elephant rides, boat & train rides, ice-cream stalls throughout. The safari part is the best part here, especially if u choose to take your own car so you can take your own time driving through and on weekdays when its not that busy u can go for multiple safari drive. Overall very well kept & maintained park, friendly staff, lots of parking available. The animals seemed to be in good health & have lot of area to roam about. Ticket about $40/adult & it is well worth it.

  • Awesome place to visit. Take your own car. Bus is cheap only 5.25$. But the frequent stops are not on demand. Because of the large volume of people in bus. If you have a car you can make frequent stops. Kids will love the opportunity to watch animals as much as they want. There are shows too. Don’t miss it. It’s always best to complete the drive through first and then go for the show

  • Great place for family and kids. The tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and polite. If you decide to go on a weekday, the park is pleasantly uncrowded and you will find lots of parking. I would recommend taking the tour bus for an extra $5.25 (adult) to learn about the animal kingdom and all the features of the park even if you plan on taking your own car through later on. If it's a hot day, remember to bring swimming trunks for the water park. There is a boat cruise, parrot paradise and elephant riding as well as pony riding availability. At 6pm every day, all the elephants bathe in the lake and you can watch the little ones play in the water. All day fun for the entire family!
