The Sasivekalu Ganesha Temple is situated in the foothills of the Hemakuta Hill and the name is so derived from the presence of the huge statue of the Ganesha here in the temple.

The deity is in a seated posture with a snake around his belly. There is a very funny story behind this. Like we all know that Lord Ganesha was very naughty and was a foodie. One day it so happened that he ate so much that his tummy was about to burst and this is when he pulled a snake and tied his belly to simply prevent it from bursting and thus the idol. The structure is carved out of a single boulder.
