A very standard aquarium, the place nevertheless has covered it’s basics: sharks, octopus, rays, piranhas and turtles. If you’re in Hannover, and you’ve nothing else to do, sure, this place is worth a visit, but there are better aquariums around the world. A common complaint among visitors is that it’s way too overprices for the experience. Another complaint is that the place is too small for the large crowd it draws and so the visit can become irritating. Still, the tanks are thematically differentiated.

The aquarium is a great place for a family visit. There are many different kinds of fish, reptiles and even insects. A lot of fun. The elevator did not work during our visit but the worker has offered his help to take down the pram from the stairs. The biggest minus point that costs a star is the dining place or a bar or a snack place or whatever place for food it meant to be. Apart from the worker who did not look like a clean person and had a whole a size of my fist in her polo shirt they had no fresh food. The muffins tasted like an old fridge and whatever the other customers ordered (looked like mashed potatoes with sausages) they did not eat it. Terrible! The only fresh thing they had was cola.
A great place to visit with a small child. My 2 year old loves visiting his favorite fish, and running around inside. What I like about Sea Life in Hannover is that it is not too big - ideal for an hour or two with a curious toddler. It is normally not too crowded, which means the kid can run around freely and see everything he wants to see. I would have liked the opening hours to be a bit longer though, esp in Winter. The entrance closes at 4 p.m. in winter though if you are already inside, you can stay until 5:30 p.m. It would also be great if there was a bit of a variety added to the food section of the cafe. Currently you can get drinks and cake and ice cream, and only susages as food. I normally bring my own food for my son and sit down for a coffee while he eats.
This was our third visit. We decided to go as the outdoor temperatures were too high to do anything outdoors. The aquarium is aging, but great are the many shows--although they are of different quality. The ones in the tropical garden were cancelled due to the heat. Overall, this aquarium can entertain for hours.
Very nice for older children and adults. With a little baby be prepared that there is no place for nursing so you have to be very inventive. Also would appreciate more Information in English as many interesting info panels were only in German.
A good initiative but there should be some improvements done to attract more tourists......
