Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, Hanoi Reviews
Wonderful performance. Great way to spend an hour of your day. We got the type 2 tickets which gave us good seats and includes postcards from the show which are very nice and a lovely souvenir. We didnt notice the little program on the way in which gives you a brief description of the various scenes you will see, so try and keep an eye out for them as you go through the door to take your seats. The theatre is well air conditioned too which is nice in the middle of the day.
Nice show. Interesting to see how the puppets work and the display. Live music on the side. Cost is 100k for one ticket. Multiple shows per day. You can ask the hotel to pick up tickets for you or head to the theatre and buy your tickets a few hours earlier. The only thing is that the show is not in English nor did they have a summary of what the show is about. We sat at 16/17 seats on L row. Good view but depends on who you've got in front of you.
Comfortable seats. Brilliant view. No idea what was going off but that was part of the experience and using your own imagination to figure out your own story. If you have children or teenages who have a short attention span it's not for them. I had a kid sat in front of me who did nothing but wobble his head about because of his boredom.
There were some cool puppets as nd they tried to make some themes funny. 1 hour was too long though. You can pay extra to sit in 1st 6 rows but its not really worth it as its a small theatre and you get a fairly good view sitting anywhere in theatre. They have regular sessions so unlikely you would miss out if you booked on same day.
Well... as an adult... if you want to get a good laugh (not because the show is funny but its done) while sitting in a tiny seat, this is a place to be. But I didn't last the whole show. The cost is cheap (100 000dong) and the tickets go fast. We arrived an hour before the show and ended up buying last few tickets next to the exit which made it easier to escape half way through the show.
