  • The grounds around this museum are beautifully landscaped. It's worth a visit just for that. There are many full size homes to walk through with signs in English, French, and Vietnamese to explain significant features. There's also a water puppet show with showings at least every hour after about 10 or 11am, which requires an additional ticket.

  • Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. Took kids with us, and it was a little heavy for them. They enjoyed reading about the elephants, and liked going into the various different houses. Went to the cafe/restaurant - worth a visit. Food was very nice, and the staff are disadvantaged kids from a local school, I think. They were certainly friendly enough, and make nice food. Couple of nice shops, one for bog standard souvenirs, and one that sells crafts, arts and textiles.

  • When you want to know about Vietnamese Culture, you should visit this place. It consists of two sections. The one is the outdoor (forest) section. About ten small parts are well designed for each ethnic group. Traditional house, architecture and some monuments can be shown. Audio guidebook is also provided if you pay additional fee (100K~150K?). Almost all household are opened to visitor, so you can watch and feel intimately. (Certainly, do not touch or trespass the forbidden zone) But it is very hot and humid. Therefore I recommend you to prepare some water, some coolant :) The another is the indoor section. Two of modern buildings are located. And they contain ethnic cultural exhibits. These sections have a plenty of rooms, cool air, benches. So it is recommended to visit this indoor sections after outdoor sections. It takes several hours to explore all of exhibits. I suggest you to plan two parts. In the early morning, you may visit outdoor section to avoid hot weather :) And after some tea, coffee, meal, you go to indoor section, so that cool air greets you :) Definitely, this place is one of the my favorite tour spot in Hanoi. Don't be hesitated to come, it worths.

  • This museum is worth visiting. The outdoor space has several historical buildings (not replicas) preserved and brought from different areas of Vietnam. Interactive exhibits and tours inside. Really neat. Cafe adjacent was delicious. We sat outside to enjoy the view of the gardens at lunch.

  • Good to visit. The actual exhibits I side are interesting to look at but not very informative. The main attraction is the buildings outside which are traditional buildings rebuilt on site. You can wander around them and it is the real highlight of the museum.
